Latest craft projects

I am going to start out with the coolest excursion on our Alaskan Cruise! In Skagway we went to a glass blowing studio and 'helped' blow some glass ornaments! I had too much fun with this. I had been looking forward to it for months so when they asked who wanted to go first my hand flew in the air.

Each persons participation consisted of choosing the colors, patterns, working with the professional glass blower to create our own ornaments.

After each ornament was completed it had to slowly cool off over a 2-3 day period so our ornaments were shipped home. Here are our final products......

This one is mine.

This one is my husband's.

Next are 3 cards that I completed today. Surprisingly there are no Cricut cuts on any of them! The first 2 are pretty simple and based on the DCW Tradewinds stack. These are going to be sent to a soldier that is currently in training so he can write home on something other than waterproof paper!

The third was inspired by an article I read in one of my mother's magazines, not even real sure which one. I am really pleased with how it turned out.

I am teaching a class!

In less than 2 weeks I am teaching a vinyl class. I am starting to get nervous! Here is the class description, what do you think?

DECORATING WITH VINYL

When we scrapbook our photos we embellish the page to bring out the story in the photos. It might be something as simple as a phhrase, date, or symbol but it helps to draw the eyes to details of those ew love and the memories we don't want to forget. Why then just hang your photos in plain wood or metal frames?

In this class you will learn how to test your Cricut to find out the best settings for cutting vinyl 9(indoor, outdoor, heat applied, etc.), what tools work best when weeding, how best to apply vinyl to different surfaces, and some of my favorite tips.

At the end of the class you will have decorated a 5x7 frame to compliment the 4x6 photo that you bring. Please bring your Cricut, a pair of fine tip tweezers (eye-brow tweezers work great), and your Gypsy if you have one and are comfortable designing with it. All other supplies will be provided.

Okay, break it to me gently.....

Sorry I have been gone so long!

It has been a very busy few months. I have had 2 big parties at the house for my son, lots of family over for his graduation, a cruise and visit with mom, 2 long trips on the motorcycle, the AC replaced, and those are just the major events! To say the least I have fallen behind in my blogging. As soon as I can I will start posting again.

Oh Christina! Look what I am sending you.....

I wrapped it in a plain white paper so the neighbors won't talk!!!

I am heading to the post office right now to send it out!!

This month's Circle Contest

Recycle is the challenge for the month. For this project I recycled the artwork from a coffee container, an old bamboo coaster, the metal chain from a broken ceiling fan, and an expression from my Army training! The font on the front is computer generated. The scroll background is from Ornamental Iron.

Inside the saying is from From My Kitchen.

Busy Busy Girl

This is going to be a quick post. Here are several projects I have recently finished. I used bronze vinyl on the frame along with 1 little rhinestone. I also added the leopard print paper on the matting.

For this one I used some of my stock rub-ons and ribbon with blue vinyl. The font on both of these is from Nursery Rhymes.

This is a present for my favorite Aunt. I used the Billionaire and Ashlyn's Alphabet cartridges for the fonts.

It is a little hard to see but 'Aunt Lucy' is raised from the page by a clear acetate platform.

The next project is my entry into the Cricut Circle blog weekly contest. This week's theme is Mommy and Me. Using a identical page I raised the background flowers and liberally added stickles.

The flower I made using Ashlyn's Alphabet and the center is made with Flower Soft. I really like the way it turned out.

This is the final page. The font is Billionaire and the frame is Ashlyn's Alphabet.

Newest weekly Cricut Circle contest

This week's contest for the Cricut Circle Blog is Make a Game Plan and the weekly theme is Sports so I decided to do a project I had the supplies for and a reason. My son is the JROTC PT Team commander for his high school. (Darn, another reason to brag on the child!) So, as his senior year I wanted to do something special for his team at the last drill meet of the year. I have had these water bottles stored away (CLEARANCE SALE!) since just after Christmas. Here is a basic layout of the "Game Plan". As you can see I did not know which font to use so I set up about 20 different fonts on my Design Studio using Jacob's name and he chose Happy Hauntings. The wolf is my old standby on Camp Out and I really like the simple font on Car Decals but it does not look too schoolish or childish. I used the cheap white vinyl from Hobby Lobby. While the vinyl itself works great the backing on it has a tendency to stick to the mat and won't come off. I ended up having to wash all 3 mats I used for this project.
Overall I am very pleased with the final result. We will see what the kids think at the final meet.
